Loch Longs

The Loch Long One Design (LLOD) is now in its 69th year. Its classic design, seaworthiness and above all the love and dedication it instils into its owners has made this 21ft yacht a feature of the Firth of Clyde for over half a century. More recently this fantastically designed boat has made a new following on the contrasting shores of a Suffolk river. Aldeburgh Yacht Club now has the largest single fleet of Loch Longs anywhere and its popularity continues to grow, as do the links between the East Anglian club and those at Cove. The last two years have seen at least ten Loch Longs towed the 450+ miles to Scotland to compete in the annual Loch Long week. An event contested almost as fiercely in the bars of Cove and Kilcreggan as on the water.

Here's to another 60 years of fine sailing.
